How a Broken Ring, a Delayed Stone, and a National Holiday Became a Spiritual Invitation

Several months ago, just before our journey out of the country, something curious happened—my wedding ring broke. Around the same time, Mark began having an allergic reaction to his. After 21 years of marriage and 25 years together, it felt symbolic somehow, like a quiet nudge from the Universe.

We both felt it. And since our original rings were crafted through a dear friend in Bali, it seemed only natural to have new ones made while we're here. We even planned a blessing ceremony to honor this new chapter in our journey together.

The stones we chose are simple topaz—clear, direct, light-bearing. But the faceted cut we love had to be ordered from India. Mark’s stone arrived. Mine didn’t.

And that’s where the adventure began.

We learned a day ago that a national holiday would mean the jeweler will be closed until April 1st and, even though my stone arrived yesterday, my ring will not be complete until April 3rd—the very day we were scheduled to fly home. So we made a flight change. Because I have some special needs for flying, the return flights have to be booked with specific seating considerations. The next flight that could accommodate those needs? April 15th.

So we’re here in Bali a little longer than planned.

And something about that feels sacred. Designed. Like life is asking us not to rush, not to simply check the box of spiritual travel, but to stay, to listen, to let Bali complete its blessings.

We'll miss seeing you all until we return - just in time for Easter, but we wanted to share what’s happening because its a good reminder that sometimes Spirit doesn’t just whisper through meditation or ceremony. Sometimes it breaks a ring, delays a gemstone, and closes a jewelry shop for days.

And when it does, the invitation is clear: stay a little longer, go a little deeper, trust the unfolding.

We’ll see you soon and be loving you from afar until we can share a hug in person!

And, wow! Do we have some incredible stories to tell when we get home!
