Simple Ceremonies: The Power of Colors
“Color provokes a psychic vibration. Color hides a power still unknown but real, which acts on every part of the human body.” – Wassily Kandinsky
We’re surrounded by colors every day, but rarely do we think about the energy they bring into our lives.
Colors convey a variety of emotions and meanings. Each vibrates differently and sends a unique message through our eyes and into our existence. For example, a red rose means something different than a yellow rose. Oranges and yellows remind us of a certain season. A black suit with a red tie is considered a “power suit”
In addition to their physical properties, colors also have spiritual significance in many traditions and belief systems. Let’s look at the common spiritual meanings of various colors. (Note: The meanings can vary amongst countries and cultures)

Using Colors In The Everday
We can use colors in many ways. They have both physical and spiritual significance. In our day-to-day life, we can consider the power of the color of our clothing to affect a mood or a personal message.
Spiritually, we can use colors to select candles, altar cloths, and other items that are part of sacred ceremony. In our home, the colors of the furniture, fabrics, and art we select will tell visitors something about who we are. When we apply the spiritual meanings of various colors to the things we wear, the actions we take, and the items we surround ourselves with, we move more intentionally toward creating a life we love living.
